CTCSS allows multiple transceivers to operate on any given channel and only respond to a call from a transceiverusing the same calling tone.
The transceiver is a light weight handheld unit with a 0.5 watt output and capable of communicating up to 5km in open field situations and up to 1km in suburban locations.
